2023/2024 SES Annual Report

This report details key developments, achievements, and challenges across the school’s academic, administrative, and operational functions. Under Dean Prof. Elsie Effah Kaufmann’s leadership, the School Management Committee directed efforts in teaching, research, and community outreach. Noteworthy events included World Engineering Day, Science in Tents, and the school’s 20th-anniversary celebrations, featuring its first engineering conference on "Sustainable Innovative Technologies for Development."

The student body comprised 1,270 students, with a vast majority in undergraduate programs. Strategic partnerships with industry and academia enriched student opportunities for internships and research, including initiatives with MTN, GIZ, and collaborations with institutions like the University of Michigan and King's College London. Financially, the school faced a significant deficit, despite funding from the government and other sources.

Upgrades were made to the library and computer laboratory, enhancing resources, seating capacity, and security measures. Key challenges included infrastructure needs, limited laboratory space, outdated equipment, and software licensing constraints. The report outlines the school’s commitment to aligning with the University of Ghana’s strategic priorities, focusing on transformative student experiences, impactful research, and sustainable resource mobilization to advance its position as a leader in engineering education by 2025.
